In collaboration with the Arabic Language Competency Unit, the Career Development and Employment Unit at the College of Political Science, the University of Baghdad, organized a lecture about “Semiotic Analysis of Political Discourse.” The event was attended by a group of faculty members and students from the college.<\/span><\/strong>
\nPresented by Dr. Hussain Ali Hamza, the Head of the Career Development and Employment Unit, together with Dr. Hussain Fadhil and Asst. Lec. Maha Abdulkareem, the event discussed the mechanisms of Semiotic Discourse Analysis within the framework of the modern critical methodologies, with particular emphasis on semiotics as an analytical tool.<\/span><\/strong>
\nTo connect theory with practice, the presenters highlighted a speech by the prime minister, which served as a case study for the proposed analysis. This study analyzed the structural composition of discourse and the embedded semiotic markers to illustrate the communicative dynamics between political speech and audience, while also underscoring the necessity of formulating both the form and content of political discourse in a way that aligns with contemporary transitional requirements.<\/span><\/strong>
\nThe event also emphasized the central dimension of the discourse, which is the Palestinian cause and the mechanisms for addressing the ongoing conflicts. The presenters elucidated the importance of adhering to the linguistic and stylistic protocols in the formation of official speeches.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n
