The Department of Political Systems at the College of Political Science \u2013 University of Baghdad, in collaboration with the Media and Public Communication Directorate of the Independent High Electoral Commission \/ Al-Karkh Office, organized an extensive workshop titled \u201cElectoral Awareness and Its Role in Enhancing the Momentum of the Electoral Process,\u201d held from April 28 to 30, 2025, in the Graduate Studies Hall at the College.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The workshop featured a distinguished group of professors and specialists, including:<\/span><\/strong>
\nAsst. Prof. Dr. Abeer Mohammed Abed, Dr. Kawthar Taha Yaseen, Dr. Neeran Adnan Kadhim, Dr. Qasim Mohammed Shuwail, Asst. Lecturer Muqdam Jaber Ahmed, and Asst. Lecturer Khawla Naseer Abdul Razzaq, representing both the College of Political Science and the Media and Public Communication Directorate of the Independent High Electoral Commission.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The workshop aimed to enhance voter awareness of the importance of electoral participation and to support relevant institutions in conducting free and fair elections. It emphasized democratic values, civic behavior, and a deeper understanding of political roles and responsibilities.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The speakers stressed that electoral awareness is a cornerstone of democratic success, as it contributes to building an active political culture, fosters acceptance of election results, promotes respect for pluralism, and encourages democratic engagement in electoral competition. The sessions also addressed key concepts related to electoral culture and explored mechanisms for creating an effective institutional environment that ensures a smooth and credible electoral process.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The workshop recommended linking electoral awareness initiatives to the establishment of sustainable democratic institutions responsible for educating citizens about their political roles and responsibilities, particularly in electoral participation.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

This workshop is part of the College of Political Science\u2019s ongoing efforts to promote democratic dialogue and reinforce sound electoral practices.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n
