The Human Rights Unit, in collaboration with the Women\u2019s Affairs Unit at the College of Political Science, University of Baghdad, organized a workshop entitled \u201dWomen\u2019s Political Rights: Between Empowerment and Challenges.\u201d
\nDuring her presentation of a research paper entitled \u201cThe Legal Framework for Women\u2019s Political Rights,\u201dthe head of the Human Rights Unit, Assistant Professor Dr. Hamida Ali Jaber, highlighted the legal framework safeguarding women\u2019s political rights and emphasized raising awareness of national and international laws that support their empowerment.
\nIn her research paper titled \u201cChallenges Facing Women\u2019s Political Participation,\u201dthe head of the Women\u2019s Affairs Unit, Lecturer Dr. Rana Abdul Hussein Ali, explained that despite legal advancements securing women\u2019s political rights, they still face numerous challenges hindering their active participation in political life. These challenges range from social and cultural barriers that limit their role to structural obstacles within political institutions. <\/strong><\/span>
\nAt the conclusion of the workshop, several recommendations were highlighted, most notably: <\/strong><\/span>
\n1.Political Awareness and Education: Launching educational campaigns to raise women\u2019s awareness of their political rights and boost their confidence in their ability to participate effectively. <\/strong><\/span>
\n2. Addressing Social and Cultural Challenges: Implementing programs to combat stereotypes and promote a culture of gender equality in political engagement. <\/strong><\/span>
\n3. Encouraging Academic Research:Supporting academic studies on women\u2019s political participation to identify obstacles and develop effective solutions to enhance their role. <\/strong><\/span>
\nThe workshop underscored the importance of continued collaboration between academic institutions and civil society to advance women\u2019s political empowerment and overcome existing challenges.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n
