In this scientific workshop, the Department of Political Systems, College of Political Science, University of Baghdad, hosted a workshop entitled “The Role of Security Institutions in Addressing the Repercussions of the Speicher Massacre.”<\/strong><\/span>
\nIn his meticulous presentation, the chairman of the department, Asst. Prof. Dr. Ali Deraywil Al-Jubouri, discussed the pivotal role of Iraqi security institutions in addressing the security, legal, and societal aftermath of the Speicher Airbase Massacre, a crime committed by the terrorist group Daesh. He elucidated that this tragedy resulted in the martyrdom of hundreds of young volunteers, yet he emphasized the role of Iraqi security institutions in addressing the consequences of this crime through various measures such as investigation and accountability, enhancing security and intelligence capabilities, supporting victims and their families, rehabilitating security forces, raising public security awareness, fostering international cooperation, and rebuilding trust. <\/strong><\/span>
\nIn the closing remarks, several key recommendations evolved. These encompassed the enhancement of training and capacity-building for security personnel, the improvement of security-related legislation, and the strengthening of collaboration between security institutions and local communities while also expanding international cooperation in combating terrorism.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n
