The Continuing Education Unit at the College of Political Science, University of Baghdad, organized a training workshop entitled\u201cExtremism: Causes and Counterstrategies\u201d in observance of Global Extremism Awareness Day. Assistant Lecturer Maha Ali Hameed ,who moderated the session, highlighted that ideological extremism has become a global phenomenon affecting both Arab and Western societies. She noted that many young people, including educated and illiterate individuals, have fallen into its grip. Hameed emphasized that extremism has evolved into a dangerous and rapidly spreading issue among university students, attributing its rise to factors such as intellectual openness, technological advancement, globalization, ideological conflicts, and a misguided or weak understanding of the true essence of religion and its fundamental principles. In conclusion, the workshop organizers recommended addressing extremism through multiple approaches, including education, student activities, postgraduate studies, research, and community and environmental engagement initiatives.<\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n
