The College of Political Science at the University of Baghdad ranked first locally, twenty-second in the Arab world, and forty-second in the Middle East in the Shimaco classification of universities issued by the Spanish Scientific Research Council, under the supervision and efforts of the Dean of the College, Assistant Professor Dr. Adel Al-Budaiwi.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Shimako classification is based on five main criteria: the most prominent of which is research production through the number of scientific publications published by college members at the university, international cooperation in terms of the percentage of scientific publications that were authored in cooperation with researchers from other universities, research impact through the number of times of scientific publications published by college members at the university were cited, innovation in terms of the number of patents that were registered by the university, and the last criterion is societal impact through university\u2019s contribution to society in activities such as continuing education and awareness programs.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Shimako classification is considered one of the most famous academic classifications in the world. Students and researchers use it to choose the universities in which they wish to study or work, and universities also use it to evaluate their performance and improve the quality of their research programs.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

It is worth noting that Shimako classification does not classify all universities in the world, but rather universities that have sufficient research production.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n
