The College of Political Science at the University of Baghdad discussed the master\u2019s thesis entitled \u201cThe Russian-Ukrainian War and its Repercussions on the Security of Eastern European Countries after 2022\u201d by the student \u201cZahraa Jassim Kadhim.\u201d<\/span><\/strong>
\nThe message explained that wars are one of the most dangerous threats to the world order. It is considered a violation of international laws, norms, and humanitarian principles, and hence the importance of the subject for study<\/span><\/strong>
\nThe Ukrainian issue is not new, as this country has gone through several periods of instability and successive crises since its independence after the dissolution of the \u201cSoviet Union\u201d and the end of the Cold War. Because it is one of the most important countries in Eastern Europe, and it has advantages that no other country in the Eastern European region possesses. Therefore, this thesis was based on studying the issue from several aspects, starting from the beginnings and paths of the Russian-Ukrainian war and its historical roots that arose between the Russian Federation and Ukraine. As a result of the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991, and the independence of Ukraine as a state; Leading up to the current war, which was launched by the Russian government led by Russian President (Vladimir Putin) in February 2022; and its future paths. The letter explained the variables affecting Russian-Ukrainian relations for the year (2004-2021), such as the political variables in Russian-Ukrainian relations; The economic variable, and the military security variable. Then I discussed international and regional positions regarding the Russian-Ukrainian war and the extent of its impact on the security of Eastern European countries, as we find a difference in positions regarding this war. Some countries took a neutral position and others supported it directly (Belarus, for example); there are countries that support Russia indirectly (China and India), and there are countries that reject the war (the West and the United States of America) absolutely and completely, outwardly and in the media; While the West is the main cause of this war, due to their proximity to Russian vital space, which Russia considers a threat to its national security. This difference in positions is due to the special interests of those countries and not to the rejection of the principle of war. In addition to researching the repercussions of the Russian-Ukrainian war on the security of Eastern European countries. Wars have devastating and long-term consequences, as they always result in the emergence of terrorist organizations and armed movements (so-called national liberation movements), which later turn into terrorist movements and criminal gangs, in addition to social imbalances (migration and displacement). and economic issues that cannot be addressed in a short period. Finally, the future possibilities (scenarios) of the Russian-Ukrainian war were analyzed. It explained the most realistic scenario for the course of this war.<\/span><\/strong>
\nAt the end of the discussion, the researcher was awarded a master\u2019s degree with a grade of \u201cwith distinction,\u201d wishing all our dear students good luck and success in their academic and professional lives.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n
