Despite the many differences and the pros and cons of both the centralized and decentralized systems, the centralized system is generally considered more common and older. Different countries and empires throughout history have been able to establish their administrative authority and control over their borders. Despite the advancements in governance and the need for updating political and administrative tools, there has been a growing need to transition to a decentralized system that focuses on the distribution of administrative functions and powers. Centralization, in one of its definitions, refers to the concentration of decision-making authority in a single main authority, which has the sole power to make decisions in all administrative functions through its representatives.
